How are you checking your mix’s?

How do you listen back top the work we have made together?

On your studio monitors? On your home bluetooth stereo? On your phone with Sanyo earbuds? Through your computer on iTunes with playback through laptop speakers? Perhaps gain normalisation is one?

These are all things that may or may not be happening and will affect a discussion about a working mix with you. Therefore let us try syncing a few things so we are on the same page.

The easiest way to effective playback is a using media player with all EQ setting flat, no crossfades, no normalisation, no enhancements. More info on that is available on that ‘internet’ if this means nothing to you. HERE

Also, make sure that the volume control within the app is turned all the way up and use your main computer output or audio interface output to adjust the playback level.

If you are unsure of your speaker quality most consumer headphones will work great and if you know your headphones sound then that will help more.

If you need a free player I recommend VLC as default has the setting what we will refer to as ‘flat’.

VLC is a free and open-source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocol
